Assistive Technology

The Assistive Technology Team (AT Team):

  • Is one of several AEA resource teams that supports staff and students in both the local districts and AEA educational programs.
  • Works with the local IEP team to determine the most appropriate assistive technology...
    • To help the student communicate effectively and efficiently.
    • To help the student demonstrate what he or she knows.
    • To help the student access the curriculum.
  • Uses the SETT Framework to 'consider' the assistive technology needs of the student.
    • SETT stands for Student, Environment, Tasks and Tools.
  • Assists the local district or AEA program in acquiring the appropriate assistive technology,
    • But does not purchase technology for the districts or AEA programs.
  • Has a library of AT equipment that the team uses for evaluations and short term (30-45 day) trials.
  • Can be accessed by phone or email.
  • Uses the Request for Resource Team Consultation (339r) as a referral form. It is short and easy to fill out! Use it to request our services.
